What are some good small towns that are NEAR Charlotte? Not Rock Hill, that's too big. I am looking for small-town living without all of the hustle and bustle of the city, BUT... near enough to Charlotte so that if I needed to go there I wouldn't be too far. Is there any small towns near Charlotte that isn't too crowded, etc. that someone could recommend? One that is peaceful and safe for black people.

Which size range are you looking for? 5K, 10K? 15K?

I've always liked the town of Tar Heel, NC. Fresh pork available year round.

Belmont is adorable and so is Mooresville. I'm not sure how big they are in terms of population, but both have really nice downtown areas and a variety of housing options.

That's nowhere near Charlotte, though. It's close to Fayetteville.

It's a lot closer than a lot of places. It's close enough for me. Maybe not for you. Pick your own favorite to share and leave my Tar Heel alone.

Maybe Albemarle, NC or Lancaster, SC if you're looking for a population of 10k-15k. Both could be decent options depending on what youre looking for and Both are less than an hr away CLT.

Thanks for the comments. I would prefer 5K to 10K I suppose. I'm not a fan of huge populations at all at this point. The thing is I have a business that offers services to independent restaurants and retailers in Charlotte and surrounding areas, so I want to be near enough to Charlotte (at least an hour or less) to get there if I need to show business owners a live demo, etc., but I really don't want to live in the midst of huge crowds and traffic at this point.
