I say keep it local. Why not a Price's Bed an Breakfast? I am serious.
The Moorehead Inn is a lovely local inn and the new Ivey's Hotel in Uptown is stunning. Once that opens, it is going to be the place to stay for a truly memorable luxury boutique experience.
Didn't the intercontinental try to make a go of it uptown about 30 years ago?
The Intercontinentals I've stayed in weren't particularly memorable.
Someone mentioned the Waldorf Astoria. There's nothing particularly stunning about the place except that it retained the '30's style . Its history is quite rich. Cole Porter's piano is on the mezzanine.
Wait. The price of the brunch was stunning at $130.00 per person.
I really like the tall narrow design that preserves space for either future development or green space. Complete opposite of the sprawling stick-built, mostly low rise Crescent Stonewall Station.
Well Crescent is a lot more than a theater and a hotel...
I could see a Four Seasons potentially but not the other brands mentioned earlier. Glad we're adding hotel spaces to accommodate larger conventions and grow the "brand" of the Queen City.
Back to the original topic - I am really glad this is happening and that the theater is being restored. Can't wait to go see a show.
Me too. I was here when the old theater was sold for $1.00. I had no idea that it would be so long before anything would be built. I know that it is to be 20 stories on top of the theater and know that if it is a Intercontinental, it will be a wonderful addition. I'll take a hotel from any country just it is well constructed and pleasant to the eye.
