Thanks, UNC4Me. Was she able to do this recently ?

Spectrum is bent on changing all the TWC packages and offers. In an era of so many cutting the cable cord, it's not a smart business idea to say, 'here's our new much higher price, take it or leave it".

Not only are their prices higher, the service they offer has been degraded. We're on Uverse, but I called Spectrum to see what they were offering. Unlike when they were TWC, there's no option for a whole house DVR and you can only record 2 things at a time. The rep said they were "working" on upgrading the DVR boxes. Yeah, sure they are.

I'm trying to see if I can get a better deal with Spectrum. We shall see.

Spoke to Earthlink, they don't offer service in this area (Concord).

Can't wait until the regional monopolies are over, so consumers get more choices and can drive prices down.

Sorry to hear that.

And I'm with you on the lack of consumer choice. I'd be fine with no cable and just watching what I could with a combo of Apple TV/Netflix/Hulu. However, until we can solve the issue of live sports for the hubs, that isn't going to cut it.

seems like the only way to get a better deal with Spectrum is to ask for retention. They kept trying to get me to spend more money when I called about spending less money.

Yep. I get about 2 fliers a week from Spectrum offering me more channels and DVR/HD blah blah for less than $5 more a month. I thought, that's not horrible, let's give them a call. Call them up, tell them what I received, the person I talked to was nearly as helpful as a football bat and quickly went into his normal sells spiel of which would have resulted in me paying about $50 a month more for essentially DVR and a few more channels. I politely declined and hung up. He really had no clue what offer I was talking about, full on bait-and-switch campaign going on there.
