You can drive to Super Sod in Pineville and buy strips for like $4 a strip.

You'd need to check there hours to see when they are open. 8-5 during week I think. In spring they start being opem on Sat at some point.

Do you have to have the proper 2" of top soil for sod, or, can I lay it on say half an inch of soil with sand below that?

They is MI homes and yes they are using their own water. They bring in a truck that gets its water from a private well.

Best to till the soil 4-6" deep.

I would till one round first.

Then go back and till with a good organic fertilizer.

Top that with lime if your soil needs it (if it's clay it probably does). Give one last light till to work everything in.

You don't need sand.

Ha, they are pretty much bigger versions of mine... they love to play fight. Mine are only 9 months old and they have destroyed a lot of my fescue. You can literally see them tear it up as they play. Bermuda should hold up better and you get the advantage of its "self fixing" ability. It looks like vines when you look real close so if there is a bare spot it will eventually be covered.

I just purchased my seed today and will put it down with starter fertilzer after work.

Thanks. But, all I have is sand that I am trying to plant grass on (an old sand pit). I am hoping to only put 2" of soil over that and plant grass or sod.
