I'm trying to learn more about communities in the south Charlotte / Union County area. There are so many! I'm mainly interested in finding out what communities have monthly newsletters so I can learn more about them via the newsletter. I've found a few, but many are dead ends when I google them. Does anyone know how to go about finding contact information for many of the communities, be it an office or individual?

If the neighborhood newsletters are anything like mine, you'll find a good babysitter and someone to walk your dog but not much info about the neighborhood. Your best bet is this site. If you call a realtor too soon, they'll try to push you according to their own agenda. I'm just sayin'.

That's why I don't want to call a realtor. I'd rather do the research on my own. I'm looking for a community where I can have things like a good babysitter and see what type of events are going on. I over plan, but this is going to be a long term investment. I'd like to have a great atmosphere to move into. I may be dreaming! I'm having a hard time getting community websites to pull up. A lot of communities only give me a realtor listing with price, which is great for shopping. I'm past the pricing and into the areas though.

This might be considered advertising since I know the owner of this publication (and former neighbor), but regardless IMHO this is a good community newspaper:

Charlotte Weekly/Union County Weekly Newspapers

I am pretty sure they will mail you copies...

Thanks! I'm checking this out right now. I wouldn't consider this advertising. I'm asking for opinions and help on finding newsletters on communities and whatnot. I appreciate it very much!

More of the established neighborhoods should have websites and such. As far as the more newer neighborhoods you could possibly ask the sales agent on duty if there is a social director etc they could introduce you to.

Charlotte Mommies is an organization with a site that might be helpful. Just google it. I think this site has been tremendously helpful in our search for the perfect school/neighborhood.
