Default Any Teachers from IL?

My family and I are considering moving from IL to North Carolina. I am an elementary teacher and I have been doing a lot of research on the schools, but that does not really give me the whole picture. I'd really like to hear from a teacher who has moved there and is now teaching. I'd like to know if you like it and if it is terribly different from where you were teaching. I have heard that there is no union and I'd like to know if that has been an issue for anyone. We want to live in a rural area, so if you are teaching in a rural district, you are who I'd most like to hear from. Maybe Union or Iredell Counties.....Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I do realize that my salary will be considerably less, but am hoping that the lower taxes, etc. will offset that.

Thank you in advance for any responses.

I moved from Michigan to NC to teach. Not exactly IL, but close I wasn't a full time teacher in MI, but I subbed for two years (while fully licensed), so I know quite a bit about MI schools and can compare them well. I do teach in a very rural school in Rowan County (east of Iredell County). Feel free to PM (or DM whatever it is called here) and I can answer your questions to the best of my ability!

Default Question for you

Being a teacher in IL, I'm curious where I can locate a listing of IL Teachers, if there is one? I'm trying to contact an old friend and I have no idea where she teaches.

Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

Rachelle
