We liked Dr. Kevin Jones at Cornelius Animal Hospital (off exit 28). He was really great at explaining things and talking to us in a language we could understand -- not Dr. speak. LOL. We would probably still be taking our babies to him, except...
One of our dogs has congestive heart failure and takes 7 medications per day. In an effort to save a little money, we looked into getting some of the medication from 1-800-petmeds.com. Dr. Jones refused to work with them. He did end up giving us written prescriptions that we then had to mail off to PetMeds, which was a hassle. (If you've never used PetMeds, you just place your order online and PetMeds then calls your vet to verify the prescription. All the vet has to do is say yes. Dr. Jones refused to do this.)
I understand that vets make money from prescriptions, but when a client is spending that much money per month, I think he should have worked with us a little bit more. My husband tried to talk to him about it, but he never returned our calls. I should clarify that most of the medication cost us double at Cornelius Animal Hospital. By using PetMeds, we spend about $300 per month as opposed to about $500, so it is a significant difference.
We now go to Village Animal Hospital in Mooresville. Dr. Hyatt is great, so friendly, and our dogs really like her. They also provide boarding services, but we haven't used them for that. They are located in downtown Mooresville, east of the interstate (where the traffic isn't too bad).
