My husband is a Geotechnical Engineer and we are looking to make the move to Charlotte after a lot of research about the city. We are currently living in the Bay Area and have had it with the extremely high cost of living. Initially, we looked at Raleigh, but we feel that it may be a little too small for us. We went to school in the Kentucky so we are already very familiar with South. Are there any Civil Engineers in this forum? Are you happy with your current situation in Charlotte? I know this city is such an up and coming city and I am sure my husband would love to make his mark on the growth of this city! Any former Californians, I would love to hear your input about Charlotte and if you have been happy with your move. Thank you!
In terms of the metro areas, I don't think Charlotte is much larger than Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, so I probably wouldn't write off the Triangle for that reason alone.
