What are some recommendations for furniture purchase, for a rental apartment? This is temporary housing while we transition homes. Our actual furniture won't fit this temporary space and needs to stay in the house it is in, for now. We originally thought we'd rent furniture but it's too expensive. It seems more cost effective to buy, use for a period of time, and then sell or donate. I know that sounds crazy but from the little bit of research I've done, I think this is the best way to go.

I have looked online and have found some somewhat affordable options.
Rooms-to-go and AmericanFreightBut are two I've done some quick research on. Are there some local spots that anyone might recommend? Or any others, beyond these two, that might be a good option.

Thanks in advance!

Are you a member of Nextdoor?

Lots of furniture, appliances, household items, etc.

Check Ikea. You can usually get things pretty cheap and then sell them when you're done. I'm sure college kids would buy it quickly.

I hadn't thought of IKEA. Thank you both! And I didn't know "nextdoor" even existed so I'm going to check that out as well.

Thank you all!!

Are you on Facebook? There are several pages for different areas that sell furniture and household items. Just do a search for yardsale and whatever county or charlotte, it will come up with several. There are also consignment shops around the area. I live in Union County and we have a few in Indian Trail.

There are also consignment stores. Divine Consign in Cornelius is wonderful, but their prices range a good bit.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores often have functional furniture; worth a look. I think there's a Matthews store in addition to these in Charlotte: Habitat for Humanity
