I for one appreciate this thread. We don't have HOA's for houses here..(only for Condo's). Although I wish the guy across the street took better care of his lawn... I can't imagine being told that I cannot build a shed/pool or change my landscaping.

Thanks to this thread..I will be cognizant of "HOA hell" during my house search.

Default HOAs are ok, but they get them wrong around here...

So, I can't have a privacy fence, but then you wonder why dogs bark?

But it's ok if I have a split rail fence and run nasty chicken wire behind it?

And you tell me whether or not I can have a pool, and what it must look like?

And all of this for a little .3 acre lot that costs way too much with a moderately priced home?

Yes, I hate the way HOAs work in the Rock Hill, SC area.
