Traveling:
That's a lot for preschool. We used to live in south FL and the best preschools were about $800 per month for full-time. Here in LA area I had my children in the best local private school preschool and that was $1,600 but for 2 of them. I believed that church preschools are often less expensive. Anyway I found one preschool that might take our son in August. My husband will do a tour next week and register if he likes it.

Julia1997, what we pay is what most of the ones cost in south charlotte. There were 3 others that we looked at that were at least $1100 in south charlotte. Church ones w/ 1/2 day programs are less but are more expensive than regular day cares(for full time) as the church ones are preschool. My son has spanish, cultural diversity class, water class etc. It's well worth the $$ as when we transferred him from a "daycare" to his current preschool , he flourished leaps and bounds. I've come to experience you def. get what you pay for.

Price doesn't equal quality anywhere but if you talk to people you can find quality care at affordable prices. I am a licensed family child care provider. That means I can only watch 5 children at a time. I am a qualified lead teacher here in NC, CPR/First Aid/SIDS trained, background checked, and have to attend 12 hours of workshops/classes per year just to maintain my license. I also have an assistant for part of the day so my 5 kids get more attention and love here than they would in a center plus we have a preschool program daily, dedicated classroom, outdoor play and more. And I know my rates are on the lower end. So, if you are looking, keep looking until you find what is right for you. Too many people only ask one question to decide on care for their most precious gift and that is price. Make sure you go and visit and see what you are getting for what you are paying.

I am in Union County so I'm not very familiar with the University Area. Do a google search for the Child Care Resources agency in that county and they can give you a list of child cares based on what you are looking for.

Luis

Maybe we should open up a daycare & a cuban bakery, that way we can catch them for coffee & pastries as they drop the kids off
