My husband and I are both nurses looking to move to NC from Massachusetts. I love the idea of Davidson, NC. I'm indian and he's white american. I'm wondering if the town of Davidson is accepting/welcoming of this. I know, touchy subject, but I don't want our kids to feel uncomfortable and I also want to live comfortably.
We want a quaint, safe, town with excellent community and schools. I love the population size of Davidson and with all my research, it's the most appealing to me.
Desi Indians are caucasians. Nothing to be touchy about, in my opinion. Come on down.
Davidson has many younger families and also many retired or nearly so, judging by the street foot traffic in town. It is popular to may others and has a real estate price that reflects this. Compared to some areas of Massachusetts it may not seem expensive.
Davidson is the closest to a quaint New England town in the area.
Also keep in mind the commute depending on where you end up working. If you can find something at the hospital in Huntersville or Mooresville would probably be ideal but even if it is outside of rush hour, I-77 can be a pain if you need to get to other parts of the metro to work.

I've been looking at traffic between Charlotte and Davidson - seems as though it really is a nightmare.
Is it not common for people to live in Davidson and work in Charlotte?
As nurses we usually do "off" hours like 7 am to 7 pm three days a week. Hoping to get something like that.

Haha! Why are desi Indians caucasians!? Thanks for the positive feedback.
It seems like it's affordable to us, especially once we sell our current home.
I'm wondering how Davidson is compared to Cornelius, Mooresville and Huntersville.
We'd love to live on the lake, in a safe town with safe excellent schools.
Thank you, yes we looked up prices of homes and demographics already. I just wanted to get some insight to how the people were.
Do you have any suggestions about the 4 different towns?
We will definitely come vacation in the area for a week or two to check it out before we make a move and start looking at homes
Thanks again
I live in Davidson - it is the BEST suburb (just ask us!) Everyone is very welcoming. The good news is you can hit 85 as well as 77 so that is a help.
I lived in Huntersville before and the traffic in town is awful - it does not have the character of Davidson. Old Mooresville has character. Cornelius has characteristics of Huntersvville and Davidson.
Personally I think Davidson wins hands down - but I may biased :-)
We moved from a Boston suburb to Davidson and love it. As far as your race or culture, nobody cares - and that goes for just about anywhere in America that I've been (and I travel a lot). The traffic is a nightmare to Charlotte at rush hour but maybe you can get in earlier if you are doing shift work. There is also a hospital in Mooresville and another in Huntersville. A nice lake community adjacent to Davidson is Davidson Pointe off Mechlenburg Hwy about 1 mile north of Davidson. There is enough turnover there to find something. Most other neighborhoods in Davidson with lake access have very low turnover.
Thank you much for that Davidson point info. I just looked up homes on Davidson point but they're in mooresville. Is this correct? After everything I've read I'd love to be in Davidson.
I really appreciate everyone's input. Thank you so much
