We will be visiting Salisbury and around the mecklenburg county area next month. As many of u know I am not good w direction. I hate not being familiar w the roads heading there. Wd like to know if coming from central ny to Salisbury, will I run I to any terribly busy interstates on the way? Ty again! We will be coming down on a saturday

There's really no way to answer that question, given the many variables involved. I assume you'll come down I-81 through VA and then get on I-77? Both have a lot of truck traffic. Other than that, its the luck of the draw. Obviously, rush hour anywhere near Charlotte will involve heavy traffic.

You can watch the traffic cams and see if they meet your definition of traffic / busy:

Where are you going first? That should dictate how you come down. Will you go 81 or 95? Salisbury is off 85 not 77 and you wouldn't hit CLT traffic because Salisbury is north of CLT.

Hi. We would go 81 south. We will be going to Salisbury 1ST. Then drive towards mint hill and matthews on some days. But we are staying in salisbury during our time there

So you will have to go to the exit on 77 where it meets 85 and then go up 85 N. So you may hit some CLT traffic after all. That would probably be the easiest and fastest way.

She'd probably be best off to get onto I 40 in Statesville.& go east, picking up a back road towards Lexington. They can get on I 85 going south in Lexington & be in Salisbury in no time.

I thought about suggesting the I40 way but she seems to be very anxious about the traffic. I was going to suggest picking up I40 in Statesville and then picking up 85 in Greensboro because it's more direct but maybe she would appreciate a non direct way.

I wish to god I wasn't as anxious as I am. I've never driven out of state and I know the ppl there drive faster than where I come from. I drive 70 on the interstate and would rather not be run off the road. I have no choice but to just do it. There's a first time for everything
