Hello-

We are looking for a suggested neighborhood for a job located near "park road park", which is near the intersection of park road and fairview road south of Charlotte. We have two young children and our number one concern is safety and good public schooling. We would also like a neighborhood that is full of younger kids (under 10 and friendly parents). I would prefer to keep commute near 30 mins if possible (arrive at work 745 am, leave 5pm). House budget is under 750k. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Your budget and job location open up numerous neighborhoods. It will be hard to recommend just a few because there are so many. Are you looking for anything particular in a house to narrow down neighborhoods?

Mountainbrook, Beverly Woods, Barclay Downs & Montibello for starters. All nice, well established & family oriented neighborhoods close to the Southpark location.

Care about schools, safety, think we would prefer a larger neighborhood with lots of kids. Other then that we are pretty open...what other options are we not thinking of? Thanks.

Brookhaven- Matthews (Union County). Weddington Schools. Pre-K-5 Antioch ES is walking distance. 500-600 houses probably range $450k-750K. Largest pool in county with water slide, lazy river. 3 tennis courts (repaved this month) and full court basketball, trail. Swim team and USTA tennis teams.Active and well run HOA with significant funds in reserve and excellent, regular upkeep of facilities and amenities. HOA dues $800-900/yr. Lots of young families.

Stick north of I-485 if you want a <30 minute commute on the way home at 5pm. Morning rush hour arriving by 7:45am won't be as much of a problem, though commute times will increase if you arrive after 8am.

I'd search by schools instead of neighborhoods...pretty much any large neighborhood in a good school district will have a bunch of kids and be family friendly. It's actually probably best to focus on the middle schools for a search as they tend to be the most differentiated in terms of ratings. Focus on Alexander Graham Middle, Carmel Middle, South Charlotte Middle, and possibly JM Robinson middle. Most of those will feed into one of three high schools: Myers Park, Providence High, South Meck...all of which are good.

No it's not. The options CLT4 listed are all better and fit the criteria.
