Something just hit me! Did your car have out of state license tags?????
Edited: My Yankee DH just reminded me no one says license tags but locals, LOL - "license plates"

Our break-in happened at dinner time. It was still light out when we arrived at the restaurant, but was dark when we came out. The car had NC tags.

Oh, um, I'm sorry, this isn't a dating site? Darn, what were we talking about, oh yeah that's right. CRIME. grimey bastards broke into my damn car.
*ok, so not much of that is true, other than the being single and having a job part. did I mention that I can bench press 200 pounds?

Heck, Eman, never hurts to mention all your admirable attributes (and since this is YOUR THREAD, go for it!) You never know . . . one of us might have a daughter who plays golf!!!!

Well, so much for the out of state tags theory. SIGH. I was trying to figure out something that might make a car a target . . . other than make/model. Guess I better stick to writing feasibility studies and annual reports . . . doesn't look like I am going to be a big success at the Crime Novel genre.

ani- NJ "tags" on my car, so your Nancy Drew-like intuition was correct in this case. I would like to hold off on that theory until I can find out if other cars were hit today at the same place mine was.
did I hear you say something about golf-playing daughters?

I'm so sorry to hear about your car being broken into. I grew up in Brooklyn, and the first time I became a victum of a crime was here in Charlotte. Someone drilled a hole next to the lock in my apartment door, and stole my Stero, All my CD 200+ and my TV. It's safe to say crime is everywhere. Wish there was something I could say to make you feel less aggrivated, but I can relate. I came home from work, and found the folks had a field day at my expence.

Car break ins & thefts have always been high in the metro Charlotte area. Just in Charlotte alone 8,000 cars a year (on average) are stolen...doesn't count Matthews, Pineville, Huntersville, Cornelius or Davidson. Just Charlotte city...that is an average of about 22 cars per day stolen. That doesn't include break ins.
That is an alarming number. That is what a CMPD officer advised me. Sad but true.

I was never a victim of a crime until I lived in Raleigh. Driver door window bashed in, stereo and dash severely damaged (because they couldn't rip it out), and sub woofer stolen. They broke into 8 cars that night, including one car that had the keys in it. They used that car to load up their treasures, but something scared them so they ditched everything. We all got our stuff back but the damage was done. The morons didn't even take the good stuff (personal records on files, etc. ). Oh yeah, gated community.
Sorry to hear about your experience elam. I've never been a victim in Charlotte.
