Charlotte is the 2nd biggest banking city in the US next to NY. It's the 20th largest city in the US and the biggest city in NC.
Charlotte is close to mountains the beach and a very large lake....What more could you ask for? If you don't think Charlotte is alive after 10 then you need to travel around the city. Yes parts are dead but not the whole city......that is a very broad comment.

charlotte is a hidden gem but it won't be soon and i am from the d.c. area. washington d.c. is not all great it okay. i hear new yorkers say all kind of things about washington but you cannot compare those two. the same thing for charlotte you cannot compare it to other cities it still too early yet.

I agree. There are a lot of areas that are happening most weeknights after 10pm.

I am a terrorism intelligence analyst, my wife just finished her master's in library science and wants to work in the school system or for the public library. She also has certifications in counter intel. with the government, so i guess she could do either. Uptown was REAL nice. We were there during a home football game so it was pretty crazy, fun though.

Heh..I am reading this thread and chuckling to myself. Folks go up North to the suburbs of NY city if you want to have a hard time meeting people. You have a bunch of NY city wannabes worried about how much money you make and who your friends are. This place is a GEM in that regard. The people are friendly and nobody walks around with attitude. I am happily married now but I'd take Charlotte nightlife over NY night life ANY day.

It was very much alive when i was there. If i didn't have the youngster i would have had a blast. There were a ton of nice upscale trendy bars and cafes where we were.

Lived in Houston and Austin... and Houston is vastly underrated as a city while Austin is still very much a college town... if you think it "stinks" you should at least give some valid reasons why.

Maybe back in the 80's... today its economy is much more diversified, only NYC has more Fortune 500 companies, and the city's largest employer is actually the Texas Medical Center.

Bugs, hurricanes, floods, more illegal immigrants than any other area except maybe Phoneix, unhealthiest city in the country, more fast food restauarants per capita than any other city in the US. Oh, and you think the humidity is bad in Charlotte in the summer? You will appreciate it after going to Houston.
