I agree with you, but I don't look the preferred person of prey. That is important. But, Charlotte is safer than most other big cities in the uptown, and I don't feel threatened. As most, I get annoyed with beggars, etc. We need a mayor to ship them to Miami or LA.

You mean to ship them back. Cause the majority of them came from those cities especially from up North or out West. They were told to come here. Then get here and realize it’s not as warm and likely worst. Not at all what they thought or were told it would be like. you

The Amtrak station is located in what was the 7th most dangerous area in the USA a few years ago (its not changed, I just don’t know where it is in relation to other areas)

That said. I wouldn’t recommend the bus. Uber or Lyft.

Uptown is completely safe at night. Just be mindful of your surroundings but it’s super safe.

Amtrak Station - not safe and most people wouldn’t feel comfortable at that bus stop even during the day.

Though Charlotte has one of the lower crime rates of major U.S. Cities, that particular area is not safe after dark, especially the later it gets. The key to ANY large city is using common sense. Know the areas to stay out of, be aware of your surroundings, don't act timid/out of place, be in a group, and don't flash expensive or expensive looking items. Again, this goes for any urban setting anywhere.

What area? Uptown is pretty safe and as far as I can tell that's mainly what OP is asking about. As mentioned, the area around the Amtrak station maybe not so much but it seems OP isn't really planning to hang out there other than to catch the train.

Stay in the more populated areas of the NoDa neighboorhood, since that is basically where the Amtrack station is. There is a 24-hour bakery called Amelie's that you could always go to for a few hours to pass the time. It's about a 5-minute drive from the station. DO NOT WALK THERE. The north side of town through the university area is not safe at night.

Uptown and 1-2 miles any direction from the Bank of America building is pretty much gentrified..

If you find a spot wait 2-5 more years and it'll be gone..

Why is it that everyone thinks that University City isn’t safe? As for gentrification all of Charlotte was safer before that started happening. Now the lines are too blurred.

REthink this....Uptown Charlotte is NOT a safe place after dark. My son works there and I made him go and get his concealed carry permit and he goes to the gun range weekly now. Do NOT wander around up there...you will get robbed at least, possibly killed. Google deaths and Uptown Charlotte and see what I am telling you.
