We are going to build a house on a lot we just purchased and hoping for some recommendations on home builders.
We are coming from California and hoping contractors in North Carolina are a bit better than in California.
Thank you in advance.

I would go with NiBlock. We were in touch with Mark there. He was wonderful, had some plans that we could change to suit us. We ended up in a community already built but we were very impressed with NiBlock. A really nice house built by them is around 319000.00 not including the lot. No matter how much we figured it all in would have been 400,000 or more. If you can afford that, Id go with them. Not saying there aren't others as good, we just had experience with this one.

Depending on the type of home you want to build I have personally worked with Waddell Custom Homes and L&M Construction Services of the Carolinas. You can find both on Google.

I have known people that had good luck with NiBlock as well. There was a shake out of builders during the "Crash" where it was difficult finding a builder but the side effect is that a lot of the smaller builders that were less financially stable and committed full time to the endeavor fell by the wayside. Also have had worked with Waddell. You can also check the Resources tab of the Home Builder Association of Charlotte and possibly contact them for a comprehensive list and do some Googling :-)

I'd NEVER recommend a contractor i haven't used. Sorry, but if you didn't hired him, you really shouldn't say...

I just recently built a home with Beason Homes. They are a smaller custom builder and were fantastic. They aren't located in Concord but would definitely be worth a phone call to see what they might be able to help you with!
