I have been reading this forum for a few months now, and it seems that the senior members have a lot of great advice for people. I need some!
I am coming to Charlotte in 2 weeks. I have a BS in Business Admin from West Virginia University. Worked 1.5 years for an investor/lender and was promoted to Regional Sales Manager of South Carolina 10 months after my first day.(housing collapse put an end to the company) Does anyone have advice for a 24yr old looking to excel in the financial industry? I am actively searching for a good company to continue my career with.(I have done my research on financial/investment institutions in the area, getting into them is a different story) Any info would be great!
I am sure you have heard this before, but, the job proccess is very very SLOW here in Charlotte. I would not suggest coming here until you have a signed offer letter from an employer.
I have an MBA with 6 years of experience and it took me over 6 months of very hard interviewing with the banks to finally get a job. My co-workers all have similar stories.
I have heard this...problem is, I cant interview from MD. I have made plans to be unemployed for 6 months...I am hoping it wont take that long! Anyone know of the executive training program at Wachovia and BOA?
WVU2Charleston2NC, I am from Chicago and looking to move to the Charlotte area as soon as I get an offer letter from a company. I definitely would not try to move to the area as one of the posters mentioned without an offer letter. I have been receiving several calls from some of the banks in Charlotte to set up interviews and many of them have been willing to conduct telephone interviews, so you have to keep applying and applying, so it is possible. Yesterday, I asked one bank would they consider paying for relcoation from here in Chicago to Charlotte, and they said yes they could do that. So again, be persistent and keep applying. Good luck, but don't give up if you truly want to be in Charlotte.
it's not what you know, it's who you know and how hard you network to get in the door
once you get your foot in the door, then you can show people how smart you are
