Good point, FS. We wouldn't want to damage that prized pan, now would we?

100 hollowpoints in a Thompson produces much the same effect.

Hey, nine is the number here, too!

You took the words right outta my mouth, Flying! My manners had me holding back! Please all, do add TLLTTT to the better-half behaviour control plan... Tree Limb Lopper to the Torso. I'm not a guy, but, scissors just make the job sound too easy. Gotta make sure to get the job done, right? DH will be mad I did not say chain saw.

As for intruders, you got it, Ani! ... no scarier sight than a SWAD - southern woman armed and dangerous! Southern woman may have good manners, but those are reserved for invited guests!

All kidding aside. Life and lifestyle have led myself and this household to develop some pretty well-honed street smarts and, through experience and education, an ability to handle crisis and emergency in distastrous situations. Ani and I have a friendship that now extends outside of CD. One of the most important things I learned about her from CD, something that greatly influenced my impression of her relative to the characteristics I like to have in a pal... was her ongoing interest in and vocalization re the need for preparedness in case of a negative situation. Simply put, I prefer hanging with people who can handle their "stuff". I think you know what I mean.

Good for you, Amploud, re arming "the Mrs.". You can, at least in my observation, be happy because I think it could be said that an increasing number of people, esp. women, ARE in fact losing their irrational fear of guns. IMO it's required MO now, plain and simple.

I can picture Ani, with poochie by her side, barking backup!
Whytewolf, my cats would be under the bed, too.

ROFL!!! Have pooch; and will shoot.

Navigating life requires contingency planning. I move forward on Plan A, but I have Plans B and C in the back pocket at all times . . . and refuse to be victimized!! Took a self defense course decades ago and practice the moves w/ my son.

I will protect myself, my family and my home. The type of crime that most often occurs, however, is gonna be something like Eman's experience - car break-ins. And doubtful anyone can really protect themselves from that sort of thing.

You come onto my property, tho, and I will definitely express my displeasure.

I've considered getting some home protection (although I do have 2 dogs 1 of which is a Rott/Dober mix. Does anyone have any advise? I've been told a shotgun is the best and easiest to use. I'm expierenced but my concern is my wife is not. I need something she can easily use (let's hope it does not come to that).

If more people would arm themselves and shoot to kill these low lifes...some might think twice before invading someones home. Glad we are in a gated building and have an alarm system, killer cats and a pistol. If the 1st 2 don't work...trust me the 3rd one will!
