I'd like to see Bon Jovi. He's been known to go to Philly & help on Habitat houses for years. He's the kind of owner that you want.

No doubt, he seems like a truly "nice guy", but his net worth is reportedly "only" $410 million. Let's say he decides to give up $300 million of that to put toward the purchase of the Panthers, he's still probably $1.7 Billion short!

For the deep pockets, you have to look at those hedge fund or IT billionaires.

I guess Fortune has the breakdown of current minority owners of the Pantehrs and possible future owners:

Belk Family: 5% of the team

Levine Family: 10% of the team

Steve and Jerry Wordsworth: The Wordsworths are the biggest minority shareholders of the team with an estimated 16%

Potential North Carolina people:

Bruton Smith: The founder and chairman of Speedway Motorsports but also 90 years old

James Goodnight: The co-founder of SAS worth $9.9 billion

John Sall: Sall co-founded SAS with Goodnight

Michael Jordan: Worth an estimated $1.4 billion, with roughly $600 million of his net worth tied up in his 90% stake in the Charlotte Hornets

Joe Gibbs: Doesn't have the funds to headline a bid

The Outsiders

Mark Cuban: Worth $3.3 billion

Jeff Bezos: Richest person in the Milky Way Galaxy at $99.8 billion as of Monday morning

David Tepper: The hedge fund titan owns a 5% stake in the Pittsburgh Steelers, $11 billion net worth

Jon Bon Jovi: see above

Well, what's Springsteen worth? If he & Bon Jovi went together, how much would be needed?

If we get 2 billion people and they all chip in a dollar, we can buy the team ourselves!

He's rather old now (85) but Clemmie Spangler, who lives right there in Charlotte, was born in Charlotte, has an estimated net worth of $4 billion. James Is Now The Richest Person In North Carolina - Charlotte Stories

True, or 1 billion people for the princely sum of $2.
