Does anyone regret moving to Charlotte? Why?

I miss Family and friends. Yes, I can go for an occasional visit back "home," but it's nothing like being "home," and attending various birthday parties, etc. anytime I wish.

Kids grow up too fast!

Outside of that, I can't say that I have any regrets.

I agree with NDL above, it's more situational regret than Charlotte-specific regret. Any time you leave "home" it can be hard, and some times will be worse than others. When everything is going wrong it's easy to think "why did I ever more HERE?!" but that's not really why you feel the way you do on those bad days.

Most of the time I think Charlotte has a lot to offer, and I'm glad I'm here. But I don't think you'll ever get over the "missing out" feelings of not being around old friends or family.

I think this is heavily dependent on your reasons for moving to begin with and what you expect the move to Charlotte to give you. As others have said, often times things happen personally that make you regret the move...but it may not be Charlotte specifically that makes people regret it. Ex, if you choose to move for a job and then a family member back home gets sick...then you may regret the move, but that's not Charlotte specifically that's making you regret it.

From your past posts, it seems you're from the NY/NJ area. Charlotte won't have the culture of that area and while traffic will most likely be better, it won't be rural country here.

I'd say if you're considering a move (or already have) to write down the reasons why you want to move and if you do end up making the plunge and feel twinges of regret later, refer back to that list to re-center yourself. If you still do have that plum job, and maybe a house with a bigger yard, but miss family...remind yourself that you still have that nice job and yard.

None, will never return to Fla. We are slated to go back in April for a wedding and I'm sending my husband and daughter. Have no desire to go visit. If family wanna see me then they can take a vacation here. I don't think Charlotte will be our forever home in the long term. We plan on moving to Europe in the next few years if my husbands job allows. Until then I'm enjoying discovering the city and surrounding areas. I'm greatly enjoying the weather also.

We will be moving next year to nc and I'm very nervous. Everything I know is here in NY. Family etc. All the familiarity will be gone. We need to make new friends as we will have no one but we need warmer weather. That's the main thing. Also the high taxes
