hmm, I wonder if Cam had any input into that. I always though they were close, but maybe not?

Great move. We have a great quarterback. Shula did not utilize the abilities of Cam. Hopefully, the new coach will create an offense based on the athleticism and strength of Cam.

But isn't part of that athleticism Cam's running ability? My understanding is that Rivera wants to turn Cam into more of pocket passer, and Shula resisted that (and I think Cam resisted it, more importantly). Generally speaking, pocket passers are less athletic than dual threat guys.

I think the Panthers lacked a running game that would make Newton better. Passing the ball to competent receivers is great. Running the ball into the end zone is great also.

Really? Panthers had the 4th best rushing offense in the NFL this year. Tied for second for rushing touchdowns. I don't think thats the issue.

How well were receivers catching balls to run into the end zone?

What does that have to do with the running game?

If you catch the ball and take off running into the end zone, you score touchdowns quicker and often.

Wow, you are so right! I never thought of that!! Maybe the Panthers should hire YOU to take Shula's place. You sound like such a football expert!
