I know that people have their rights yata, yata, yata, but is there any chance of an anti-smoking ordinance being passed in Mecklenburg. It seems that the county is sophisticated enough to pass such a thing. Even heavy smoking places like Florida, New York, Ireland, England, Scandanavia, have put a ban in place. Surely one is on the horizon? Any updates.
City and county governments do not have the legal authority to pass such a ban without the approval of the state. However, privately owned businesses may ban or restrict the use of tobacco at their own discretion
Bonefish Grill in Matthews is smoke free. I don't know of any others. Smoking in restaurants here was a little hard to adjust to. "no smoking" areas are a joke.

Hey Scotsman - maybe it's my PC, maybe it's your link, but it didn't work...
smoking is now banned in Maine public places - I LOVE it! That will be so hard to get used to in NC, I would be very interested in knowing what businesses will get my dining dollars in Charlotte!
Please continue the discussion as is so I don't have to interject why government should not be intervening, which will result in the thread being closed.
