It will depend on if you are in Charlotte or a surrounding area. I live in Monroe and Verizon is my only choice for landline phone unless I go digital phone from TW or another VOIP. Verizon doesn't have high speed internet in Monroe..so TW it is. Matthews and Indian Trail have other options as do Charlotte and Mint Hill...Good luck.

AT&T is the local phone provider in Charlotte. They offer DSL service too.

I have Verizon VoiceWing (VOIP) for about $25 per month and covers unlimited local and long distance.

I use Vonage and pay 19.99/mo unlimited including LD. Some people are paying as little at $14.99/mo. Check out the posts on slickdeals.net on how to get those rates.

I live in Charlotte and Alltel is my only choice for land line phone. AT&T is not the only phone company. Where do you live?

Depends on where you are. While living in Charlotte we used ADSL from BellSouth (now AT&T again), as well as our local phone lines. There are CLECs such as USLEC in Charlotte but I am not sure at all if they provide ADSL.

When we lived in Concord we used Time Warner for high speed internet and Vonage for our phone service, but due to service issues we dropped that and went with Cabarrus County's local telephone company (CTC now Windstream) for ADSL and had our phone that way too obviously.

For high speed Internet other than Time Warner Cable, I recommend ADSL through the local phone company in your area, which is most likely AT&T but could be other companies depending on the area. Obviously in Concord it's Windstream. Depends on the area. But I recommend ADSL.

I would recommend AT&T. I have telephone and DSL with them and have not experienced any problems.
