Stonecrest and Blakeney are nice areas but don't let looks fool you! Be cautious I have a friend who had a car stolen last summer in Stonecrest and 2 other friends who have had purses grabbed and stolen from Target and Harris T. Also, the HT has had countless armed robberies and even Justice in Blakeney hired an armed guard.

Do you think its possible to find similar crimes happening in Southlake, Texas and Grapevine, Texas (that you highly recommend) over a similar time frame from 2015 to 2017 that you found articles for by using Google and drawing conclusions from that?

I've been an outspoken poster, when it comes to Charlotte's need for additional police officers, etc.

That said, the section of Charlotte that you're referencing is safe, with two caveats:

1) You can't compare Charlotte's criminal activity to a rural area where the population is next to nothing.

2) The undesirable activities that you may see in Charlotte are shared with other municipalities across the US. In other words, the heroin activity that troubles some Charlotte residents, is also seen by residents in other municipalities across the US.

You know, the funny thing is since May 2017 (the date of the article you posted), some similar crimes have happened in the downtown of Fort Worth and Dallas (recommended cities by you). I wonder if since May 2017 there have been many major cities with more than 1,000,000 people in the metro that have had 0 violent crimes in the central business district.

Who is this LeeNicole person? I was just looking at her profile and ALL her posts are bashing Charlotte. http://www.city-data.com/forum/searc...rchid=31827420

When someone has NOTHING good to say EVER, I must really question their credibility and take their comments with a just a tiny little grain of salt. As for Dallas, which LeeNicole seems to be holding up as the model of urban safety, here's some more info (adding to what you've provided):

Why are you making a stink about these garden variety crimes? This is crime that can happen anywhere, big or small.

So what restaurant “just” closed because of a crime from 10 months ago? Or are you referring to one that also closed 6+ months ago? That’s the most recent that I can find about any uptown restaurants closing- Blue got sold and Enso didn’t renew their lease (and the owners still have a different restaurant uptown).

I found the crime rate to be the same in Jacksonsville, Cleveland, and Charlotte in 2009. All three are very different cities. I would suggest to move to the outskirts since most of the crime seems to be in specific areas which you can identify based on recent research. I would like to say Charlotte has 157 neighborhoods (or used to a few years back), so you might want to peg down the area and go from there. I read a report from 2017 which stated the following 10 areas had higher crimes reported in 2016.
Westover Hills
Pinecrest
Arbor Glen
Lakewood
Jackson Homes
Capitol Drive
Tryon Hills
Ashley Park
Double Oaks
Westerly Hills

Hope this helps! Believe iit or not, Pineville was listed as one of the higher crime areas which surprised me. Driving through and visiting the establishments, I would nver have guessed.
