This was in the ghetto, as it is in Charlotte. No, not commonplace in Charlotte, just a sad state affairs occurring in this low income section of Charlotte just like poverty stricken areas all over the country.

Oh wow. I don't know what areas are considered "ghetto" and which aren't. I thought living off of Tryon going towards SC was okay also, but someone stated that wasn't so.
I do know we were driving along and drove to the Lincoln Park area, off of I think Beatties Ford Road. All I knew is I definately wasn't moving there, I was scared. Charlotte is so vast, it is confusing to a newbie. Should we just move 30 miles away from downtown? It all look so pretty in photographs.

Beatties Ford is bad until you get into North Mecklenburg. And Tryon is okay close to South Carolina, but the approach close to Carowinds is a little shady. That's the Steel Creek area you hear all of talking about.

I saw on another thread you liked Ballantyne. I will love it there and so will your family. Not sure what your price range is, but you can find a very wide range in and around the area.

You just need to get your bearings DiamondGirl. Believe me, there are more nice, good areas of Charlotte than there are bad. And no, you do not have to move 30 miles away from uptown. Some of the most desirable places to live in Charlotte are within 5 miles of uptown! What is your price range, maybe we can direct you?

Okay, we did get a little lost on Tryon. We had no idea how we ended up in SC. I think by a Harris Teeter. I remember that names because it was so nice out there. I will really give Ballantyne a closer look then, I thought it was a little hoytie toytie in that area. But I really did like it. The Red Robbins was nice too, great food.

The end of S. Tryon you were on was in Steele Creek and it is very nice out that way, especially the closer you are to the state line.

Oh okay, that's is why I think I was confused when some spoke of the crime in that area. It looked very nice. Is that area no longer Steele Creek? We did go to Carowinds, but we rode 77, so I am not familiar with the area around the park.

Yes, I should have been clearer. The whole area is Steel Creek, but the nicer part is near the state line.

I don't think Steele Creek starts to get nice and safe until you get to about Goldmine Road.

Ok thank you. One more question, the area by the Fire/Police academy is condered what neighborhood? It was nice over there too.
