Default Family Neighborhoods in So. Charlotte

Can anyone help me sort through the numerous neighborhoods in So. Charlotte and recommend a good family friendly neighborhood less than 45 mins from uptown? We are looking at 400-500K range and would like to have about a 1/3 to 1/2 acre yard if possible and a community pool.

We've been looking in Weddington, Matthews, Marvin and Waxhaw mainly. We have been going out with an agent to look but it is so hard and confusing to see so much. Any ideas would be appreciated!

You should give this thread a read...

Based on your requirements (45min to Uptown), you should be looking North, also. Nice areas up in Iredell county.

Put in the research!! Log the miles to visit. Good luck in choosing and you're going to love the area!

Yeah, but if schools are important the south end is the better place to be - unless you go all the way up to Mooresville where you live - but that is a heck of a commute.

From what we have seen the south has alot to offer and is where we are primarily interested in. We are ok with hustle and bustle since we lived in the Philly metro area for more than 10 years.

Schools are very important since our daughter is almost 4. Thanks for the thread--that was helpful too.

I do 45min to Uptown easily - actually 30-35 most times... but sometimes forget that it's mostly offhours from prime time. Lucky dog I am with the type of job I have. heh

Good luck down in the UC!

Providence Plantation might fit with your requirements. Not sure on lot size, but they seem bigger than the majority of neighborhoods in the more established areas. You should be able to get in with that price point, and commute shouldn't be more than what you mentioned, even on a bad day. We're new here, too, so I am sure there are others that fit with what you want. Good luck!

check out Hunter Oaks, very nice homes in your price range, we have 2 community pools, tennis courts (that are being re-done) so they will be brand new, clubhouse...the 1 pool has a waterslide and sprinklers...there are 997 homes in this community with a ton of kids and a ton of little ones these are in Union County right on the border of South Charlotte...Ballantyne...very convient to shopping and restaurants

you can also check out Somerset as well...they too have nice ammentities, The Reserve definitely is in your price range as well....I wouldnt go any further than The Reserve if your commuting uptown...

good luck
