So after almost moving to Atlanta, wee pulled out and have decided to return to Charlotte. We want to go back to Highland Creek. Our first reaction is to get back to Cabarrus County and get our son into cox Mill , but.....

We have noticed over the last few years how far Mallard Creek seems to have come. I realize the diversity (a positive for us) and then some of the negatives like test scores, absences, etc. But I was hoping to get some overall opinions from parents both at MC and some from Cox Mill. Not about how GOOD Cox Mil is because that is subjective, but more so just impressions or personal experiences with MC

We dont care about the tax advantage of cabarrus county or the status of being on "that side" just want to hear about peoples opinions of the Mallard Creek School programs, safety, cleanliness, teacher interaction, etc.

Thank you

My son is only entering Kindergarten next year, but we chose Highland Creek- Meck side so he could go to Mallard Creek. They have an Engineering Academy, AP classes, tons of class options. Cox Mill is FULL. They're about to put thousands of single family homes literally right next to the school and apartments are coming on Christenbury and in front of Skybrook. I would tour both and see which is the best fit for you guys.

I think the building of the new high school will alleviate some of Cox Mill's capacity issues. We passed by the apartments last night in front of Skybrook and there wasn't a single car. They've been open for renting for at least a month now.

I think thousands is a slight exaggeration of how many homes will be going up on CM road. I didn't think the apartments were approved at Christenbury yet.

Apartments have a Zoning Meeting- this week, "Please join your Christenbury neighbors on Tuesday, May 15th at 6PM. Concord City Hall: 35 Cabarrus Ave West, Concord 28025.

We have three different subdivisions going in for Cox Mill- Allen Mills, Granary Oaks and Lantana. You'll easily have 1000+ homes. The corner of Poplar Tent and Harris (Eastfield) just sold their wood and will sell this year, it will have to be some sort of neighborhood as it connects into Skybrook Parkside. Thankfully the medical offices took the other corner, so no subdivision, there.

I haven't seen any cars at the apartments, either. However; I'm not sure if you can move in yet- all of their "specials" start in June. Could be wring, though!

The new high school will be interesting, in the future you'll have to live on Cox Mill or West of it to attend. I predict another elementary school to relieve Odell and Cox Mill soon after, too.

The committee voted no to the apartments outside of Christenbury.
