When we relocated here 12 years ago , we built new in Concord (Western Cabarrus county) near Concord Mills. I commute into uptown almost daily and it's 45 minutes in the morning and around 45 in the evening. My kids are 9/10.

It might be smart to rent a place until you decide whats best for your family.
Also that coal ash pond run off is getting into everything, local lakes, ponds, rivers and well water.

We are planning a move from San Diego to Mooresville area as well, in early 2019. We plan on renting for a short time until we figure out where we want to buy.

I've been keeping my eye on the news there - the thyroid and eye cancer clusters are concerning to say the least.
