We moved from New Jersey to Ocean Isle Beach 3 years ago but we got great news our daughter expecting her first baby in December and both she and our son live in Charlotte. We are contemplating moving to Charlotte as we did live there from 1989 to 2007 before we moved to Jersey for 8 years.

Looking for recommendations what area to move. We are 64 and 63 and really don't want to live n any retirement type communities. Budget up to 575-600k. Not looking for any 5 bedroom 4000k sq feet large homes but after researching most of the 5 year old or younger homes are the big boys.

any suggestions??

I'd look for a condo in the Myers Park/Elizabeth area. Maybe the Southpark area too.

Was hoping for a single family home but might have to go Townhouse route.
Thanks

You might want to look in Concord. Concord has a bus system.

My in laws are retired and they were able to find a ranch home in our neighborhood. We live in the Concord area near Concord Mills.

My suggestion would be for you to reconsider "retirement-type communities."

They're unfortunately stigmatized along the lines of retirement homes...places you go to die.

Especially if you wish to live an active lifestyle into your retirement, there are many options that exist to meet the needs of those at or near retirement age. Whether it's golf, tennis, or a million other activities...or social events...or activities aimed towards older adults care-taking their grandchildren they tend to be packed full of options.

Plus you get to avoid ending up next to a rental property with 20-somethings blasting music till 4 in the morning and refusing to maintain the property.

Sounds like you'd want to be closer to your grandchild, so I'd focus the search on the Concord area specifically.
