Cpcc Central Campus - Safe Area? (Monroe, Indian Trail: college, light rail, car)

Looks like my son will be taking a class at the campus during the summer. He will be traveling by car from Union county, how safe/sketchy is the area. Would the LYNX line be of any help? This newcomer thanks you for any replies.

Have no fear, especially during the daytime No, the light rail will not be of any help as it is nowhere near Union County or CPCC. The only time I've ever been a bit nervous around the campus was walking back to my car after a night class, but in the daytime it is like a lot of other college campuses and there are no bad sketchy areas touching any part of its perimeter - he sould be just fine.

The light rail won't help, but the 74X Union COunty Express might. I think it stops at the Monroe K-Mart and somewhere in Indian Trail off 74 then drops him off downtown, where he could walk or catch a shuttle to CPCC...Saves a ton on gas and parking, but it only leaves early morning and afternoon, geared toward commuters...So it might be a tad inconvenient
