Carowinds will add a Mack launching coaster to the park for the 2019 season. In addition to the already announced hotel coming to the property, I’m expecting even more additions to be included to top the recent $50 million investment.
Official announcement is at 11am today, you can watch live at Carowinds.com.
What is a launch coaster? Does it not have an initial drop to get speed?
No, it’s usually a flat section of roller coaster track that pulls the cars using a magnet. The current tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world are both launched coasters.
Covering the western portion of North Carolina and a sliver of South Carolina's upstate, the Blue Ridge Mountains region offers a majestic landscape, vibrant colors and undeniable charm. Enjoy the natural, easy-going culture of the Carolina mountains at Blue Ridge Junction, a new, immersive 7-acre themed area at Carowinds. Sit a spell and savor home-grown flavors at our new Blue Ridge Country Kitchen restaurant. Or hang on tight and get twice the bite during a high-speed, backwoods chase on the new Copperhead Strike, the Carolinas' first double launch coaster. Plus, plenty of surprises ahead. It's all opening at Blue Ridge Junction in 2019!
Theming looks great. Almost $100 million has went into this park since 2015.
How about some money on quantity and quality of staff. I get that it’s not a year round park so the employees are seasonal, but the losing/unloading of rides can take forever, especially for some of the smaller rides.
I wish we could get some infrastructure improvements as well and make the entrance look nicer to make it feel more like a destination park.
...a brand new front gate, parking tolls, expanded entry road, and guest services building were just added 3 years ago.

There are dorms being constructed on property for some employees. I don't think you can put a price tag on throughput for rides.
