When I lived in NY, I wish that people had treated weather events as they do in CLT: skidding on black ice is no fun (especially when you're taxed at high rates for substandard services - but hey, that's the NY way )

Reduced to category 1 before landfall. Will just be a minor rain event for Charlotte now.

It sounds less serious than 441,000 days of missed school (and 2/3 were missed before the first drop a rain fell).

Hi all, I wanted to make this my first post and say all of you out in Wilmington, New Bern... and all of N.C. have totally been in our thoughts out here from your soon to be neighbors from Long Beach, CA.

I’m thoroughly impressed with how you guys come together in these situations. I can say that you will NEVER see that kind of good will from most people out here. I was watching almost live Florence moving in slowly hoping it made a left turn in the middle of nowhere, i can only go off what I see in the news and what my wife’s friend in Raleigh tells us but I’m glad it doesn’t seem to be quite as devastating as they played it out to be. Stay strong N.C.! We will see you soon...
