We've been planning a trip in the coming weeks to the Lake Norman region, however due to Florence we're wondering if we should postpone ? I understand the roads are open (?) but I'm not clear on the availability of motel rooms, food, gas and such. I would think those who were displaced may have temp relocated to safer areas, possibly Charlotte. In any event would it be best to just reschedule at this time ? We'll be focusing mainly from Mooresville to Cornelius.

Also if/when we do head down we decided (based on a previous post here) to take 78 - 81 - 77, and then 26 - 95 as we head further down to SC and ultimately FL. Could someone familiar with this route give me an idea of the tolls we will come across ? We're starting off from NY, and have a NY EZPass but I'm not sure as to which states will accept EZPass and or if there are tolls along this route outside of NY and NJ ? And if so, about how much will it cost ?

Thank you...

Life is back to normal in the Lake Norman area of Charlotte (unless you were unlucky and had a tree fall on your house or something) and I would not skip a visit. The coastal areas of the state are still suffering, but there are no closed roads due to Florence, no food shortages, no gas shortages, etc...in the Lake Norman area.

There won't be any tolls in NC or SC. Lake Norman and Charlotte are fine. Florence didn't hit us that hard.
