There are some beautiful neighborhoods right in the SouthPark area, off Sharon Amity in particular. You shouldn't have to go too far from there to find what you want. Traffic can be a "challenge" here, so I'd suggest not going too far if you can. With the amount you're able to spend, you will have many nice options. Good luck!
I'd like to offer an observation if I may. I used to live on the right hand side of Providence Rd heading south right before the intersection with Fairview Rd. Rush hour traffic was a nightmare & many times it took me 30+ minutes to get from South Park Mall to my home. Try & find a neighborhood that doesn't empty out onto a major road like Providence without a traffic light at the intersection. Hopefully there will be more than one route you can use to beat the traffic. There are a lot of great properties here. Have a good time checking them out!
If you go to carolinahome.com and search in area 5, then use their map feature to see how close the listings are to SouthPark. I did a quick search and saw several that were pretty close and within your price range. Some of the neighborhoods are Belingrath, Quail Park, Greentree, and Mountainbrook.
