I moved to Charlotte from S. Florida and find it highly overrated. Luckily, I work remote (because the job market here is poor and only going to get worse with the banking industry job decline) so I am heading back to Florida. Get ready for a much slower lifestyle and a lot less culture here. If you are a fan of the beach...have fun with the greatest concentration of rednecks you have ever seen in Myrtle Beach (the closest beach). The grass is not greener!! Adios North Carolina!

Thank God you are leaving. May others take your cue and go away as well! Sick of people like this moving here, taking our jobs, and then complaining about all they left. The road goes both ways....may you go quickly.

Liz,

What is wrong with a slower lifestyle. I'll agree this is not NY City but for the most part there are plenty of things to do. Myrtle Beach attracts many from the East Coast and some weeks are "Theme" weeks. Are you sure you did not go down during shag week or something ???

The crack at Myrtle Beach is laughable since most people vacationing there are not from NC or SC - just look at the license plates.
The 'rednecks' alluded by the OP more than likely are not even Southerners.

RedNeck? Myrtle Beach? You must not pay attention to the cars on the roads there because they are mostly northern tags. Glad you decided to return to where you came from since you are not happy. I am not sure why your leaving Charlotte will make it slower and less culture?????

Also the last time any "culture" was found in South Florida, was around 1960.

I moved from South Florida and would never move back there.

At least the people on the beach here can speak english!!!!!!

I see you did not like San Antonio either, I hope you are happy wherever you end up.

What are you talking about? Myrtle Beach is frequented PRIMARILY by people from the surrounding area. Don't try to paint it as anything else---it is a beach getaway for the surrounding southern states.
