Default I am looking for mansions

or very pretty houses in the Charlotte or York County area. Any ideas of where I could scope some out? Oh, and in non gated communities because, well sounds weird, but my friends and I love looking at all the different designs and architecture of them.
So if you have any places of interest let me know!

some of the most incredible homes I've seen are best viewed by boat.

If you are just looking to be looking, one of my favorite places to see Mansions is on Queens Road along all the big trees and the flowers blooming i the spring. Makes you feel like you are back in the GONE WITH THE WIND days.

Loves is correct about viewing homes on the water, it is really cool to ride along looking at the different homes from the water. Lake Wylie has a lot of larger homes on the water and you can either try the lake or drive into any of the neighborhoods on the lake to see them up front and personal. Except River Hills it is gated.

Have fun,

dunroven

Ballantyne Country Club, Piper Glen, or drive around South Park. The Peninsula or The Point on Lake Norman.

The Duke Mansion - Historic Bed & Breakfast and Meeting Place

The area around Duke Mansion (Hermitage St.) isn't bad, either...

Lake Norman just 20 minutes north of Charlotte in Mooresville. The pointe is always nice to look around. I love the architectural features of the homes there : )
