Hubby and I have had no problems...I think LOL....I think that NYers are generally in your face (you get what you see)....I'm not entirely sure about the women down here ....who are happy happy haaaappppyyy which is giving me some "trouble" b/c I'm not happy happy haaappppyyy ...I also wasn't aware that if you're a female, you're required to run every day in your matching shorts outfit with you dog (not that you and your dog have to wear the same sneakers hahaha...you know what I meant!)...
But seriously, if you're a nice person, you'll be treated as such...people are people. I am loving it here and don't miss LI/NY at all...(but will surely miss the beaches come summer...)

Just gotta ask . . . are you referring to Southern women??? Cause we are not into running, as a group. Bad on one's knees and hips and we are taught this as kids. . . only hardcore athletic female types are into that much physical activity. Southern females are more likely to be into Yoga and Pilates . . . and golf, tennis, swimming and horsey stuff. The only women in my neighborhood who are into running are not natives. However - cute outfits - yep, that does sound Southern.
As for happy . . . not sure what that meant, either. Maybe we take a lot of Prozac, Hee Hee.
So it's final. We're on our way and moving to Charlotte. Terrific news! Our concerns are will us "new yawwwkers" be accepted with open arms or will we have a hard time fitting in? we're very nice people but again, "us new yawkers" tend to stand out in other places. We'd love some feedback from people who have moved there from here and feedback from people who were born and raised in the Charlotte area. And anyone else who'd like to give some feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
If you look through previous posts you will find many attacks on New Yorkers, from Charlotte, and surrounding towns. And you will also find that many New Yorkers, are returning home, because they cannot adjust to the culture shock, and are very unhappy there. Good-luck.

But to be fair, you will find MANY welcoming, helpful posts and MANY, MANY New Yorkers who claim they would NEVER go back

Hey - it's not New York here! We are happy to have newcomers . . . just don't come expecting the Sixth Burrough. I wouldn't go to Long Island and expect to find Charlotte.

ani - You wouldn't find Charlotte out on Long Island, but you'd think you were living near Ashville specifically the Biltmore House when you got that $18,000 tax bill!

ROFL! Em, you are soooo funny! Yeah, that tax bill would make me wonder if I had a secret life I didn't remember I was living . . .
Em, what is all this talk about being unwelcoming to NY'ers? I love NY and I have only run into a few obnoxious NY'ers (women, actually) and they settled down pretty quickly, Hee Hee. We are talking about - screaming at kids like banshees in public places and making scenes at schools . . . but it seems most people figure out they dont have to act out here (be so dramatic) to get what they need. I have lived in other places and we all get home-sick, of course . . . but I am so surprised to see these posts about NY'ers feeling they have been treated badly here.
Location: Some got six month some got one solid. But me and my buddies all got lifetime here

I've gotten the looks and a bit of an attitude but it's been more away from the Charlotte area where it's more native southern people and a lot less transplants.
