So, I am moving to Cornelius - very nice it is too!

I need super fast broadband internet more than anything... so I ordered with AT&T, only to be told this morning when then engineer visited that they do not control this property.

It's serviced by CTC which is now owned by Windstream!

So the question is -

Do I go with Windstream or MI-Connection?

Which is the most reliable?

No TV service required, btw, but might bundle up on a phone line if the packages are cheap....

Are there any other Internet options available in Cornelius?

Windstream Bundle Specials might be a good option if you are not needing a home line etc. M/I is a company controlled by the towns. I am not sure they will be able to keep up with future technologies. Also when was the last time the government got anything right

Thanks... I am leaning towards Windstream as I don't trust the local Government to run anything well - or at competitive prices.

Wish there were better offers though.... AT&T had crazy ones like $125 for moving over from Cable Internet, $50 instant cash back, full rebate on the modem etc....

But the greenstreak looks good.... the woman on the phone said it's $44.99 a month for the top speed (or about that price)

Here's my opinion. I just moved here from Detroit, Comcast country. I had the 3 pack with them- cable, phone and Internet. No problems and I had fast Internet. I moved here and the temp housing that we had was with M-I. I had no problem with the service once it was working. I never tested the speed however so I can't comment on that. I bought a house in Mooresville and had the option of using them, but as has been previously noted, it is run by the government. Worst part is, they don't seem to know what they have for equipment, customers, etc. I went with Windstream which is DSL and phone (if you want I think you can also package in Dish Network). DSL is slow (only 3 MB in my area), service is pathetic and the cost is outrageous. I was charged a $35 fee because they came to the house for the third time to diagnose a problem that was in my house. Oh yes, they forgot to tell me that I needed to have a DSL filter on every phone plugged into the wall and that was the problem.

I changed all of my emails to go to my yahoo account and I have not changed them to my windstream address as of yet because I am searching for something better. Neither option is optimal in my opinion so pick your poison.

Unless your home is already filtered for DSL then you do need a filter. This is for any DSL service. You can upgrade the service if you like. I have the 6mb option as I used to be in the IT field before I joined the RE community. I have not had a problem with them at all. And while I do not have a static IP mine has not changed in over a month which helps with the FTP server I run

Thanks folks... I am going to go with Windstream I think, specifically the Greenstreak option as I don't require a home phone line....Thanks QC Misfit for the link.

I had MI-Connection in Davidson. It was terrible. I had many service outages. They didn't last long, but they were annoying.

The speed was ok. It averaged just under the 5 mb/s they promised. The reliability was awful.
