Are there any areas around Lake Norman that are less congested and might be a little more serene, secluded and less expensive than the mainstream areas and still allow good access to the lake?

Thank you.

Denver and Troutman come to mind..other than that it is mostly strip malls, traffic and housing developments. There is only one puplic area to swim in the lake in (though YUCK I wouldn't do it..it is dammed by the power plant) which is in Troutman. Other than that you have to have a boat to go on the lake.

You can still get a decent price over at Sherrils Ford. That would be the complete west side of the lake. It is also away from the main Channel of Lake Norman.

To describe Lake Norman if you were going North it would split at one point into a V the main channel and Cornelius/Huntersville (You can even get to some of Mooresville) would be to the right while to the left would be Sherrils Ford and the rest of Morresville. Denver and the rest of Huntersville is to the South.

Where most of the action is seems to be around the Cornelius exit. I am talking places to eat etc. As well as any community type things such as the boat tie up (which I think they have stopped doing now) and a couple of bars etc.

Depending on the speed of your boat from Sherrils Ford to the main Channel could be around 20 + mins

Hope this helps some.
