Great photos! Great thread! I was just asking someone yesterday, what the art scene was like in NoDa. Seems it might need some "reving-up". Any other input?

I would love to input. NoDa and Midwood are two of my favorite spots in Charlotte. If you want to check out some "new local art" you have to stop by my favorite shops in NoDa. First, Canvas Monkey CanvasMonkey tell them Kari sent you.
Also, the Green Rice Gallery Green RIce , The Boulevard The Boulevard of NoDa and the newest gallery next to the Boulevard called Lock and Key.
As far as the mills, I know there was a bidding war for them last fall. All companies were planning on creating mixed-use developments. There is also a new mixed use development on N Davidson and 36th in the works called MercuryNoda, Mercury NoDa :: Our Future Landmark - Your Future Home . I can't wait to see what this does to the area.
Oh and this Friday is an art crawl. It's a great time to come out and check out the scene.

Kari, thanks so much for your input and info. Is there a set "plan" as to the future of NoDa's art scene, and therefore, to attract "more" popular artists?
TIA

My Pleasure.
No "Set" plans that I know of. But for a long time now, developers have been working on fixing up the neighborhood. From what I can tell it's been working out. There is a lot of buzz in this area, and worth checking out if you have never been.
I personally think the best thing for the community is for people visit NoDa and support or local business's and artists.
