Also, don't panic if you don't get something right away. I interviewed in mid-June and never heard anything from that interview until August!! By then I had interviewed elsewhere and secured a position. Gaston county is bad about that (waiting until the last minute). I went to their June job fair and did not hear a thing. Once August started, I bet I got over 20 phone calls from that county alone!!

I teach in Charlotte. Just like any large city, there are good schools and bad schools. Sometimes it is the population and sometimes it is the staff. CMS has a very detailed website that you can surf for hours. If you look at the schools on the website, there are some demographic buttons on the menu, to give you many details about each school.

Even though many schools present challenges, in my experience, CMS wants the students to succeed and wants to provide the teachers with the tools to succeed. If you look at any job as the opportunity to learn and grow as a teacher, you will have that in CMS.

You probably already have a job offer/contract by now, I'm hoping. CMS just instituted a hiring freeze (as of May 23) due to a huge budget restraint from the County Commissioners. Good luck!!
