Hello,

My husband and I are originally from Boston but relocated to South Florida for the past 2 years. We are being moved permanently to Charlotte and I have been looking at homes from afar...could anyone tell me about the Cameron Woods neighborhood or recommend the best places to live in the $400K range?

Thank you.

I should also mention that my husband will be working in Ballantyne. Thank you in advance for your help!

Cameron Woods is a nice neighborhood on the border of Charlotte and Pineville - though you really can't tell where one ends and the other begins. It would be a very easy 15 minute or so commute to Ballantyne. It is also very convenient to churches, schools, shopping and malls. In your price range your problem will be how very many nice neighborhoods there are to see! Also close to Ballantyne is Hunter Oaks, Stone Creek Ranch, Ardrey - just to name a few others for you to check out

I like Park Crossing too, but you won't get in there for $400,000 or under anymore - most are in the high 400's and 500's

Really? That's a shame. I just took a look and there are 2 homes in Park Crossing just under $400k. Here's a link to Park Crossing's website.
Park Crossing They also have a search engine that let's you search by area & subdivision, a handy feature.

It's a bit confusing, but one of those is actually a patio home at the entrance to Park Crossing, the other I think was a foreclosure. Again, other than those situations you'd be hard pressed to find a home under $400,000 in there I'm afraid Though I should add, it is a GREAT neighborhood so people close to the 400 range may want to keep a constant eye on it for a deal, (especially in the Hanover section where the homes are sided and not all brick)!

Hunter Oaks would certainly fit the bill as well for you and your family..Ballantyne is literally 10 minutes away..it is right near shopping within a few miles to Blakeney and Stonecrest..and quite a few homes in your price Range...Somerset might be a good choice as well its across the street from Hunter Oaks nice variety of homes...Hunter Oaks has 2 pools 1 with a Huge Water Slide and and another one that is a lap pool, we have Tennis Courts that were just redone so they are brand new and a small playground, and tons of kids of all ages... Somerset has a pool and a playground and a clubhouse oh Hunter Oaks also has a Clubhouse as well...

Good Luck on your Search

Hunter Oaks and Somerset are in Union County but on the border of S.Charlotte but you pay Union County Taxes...We are Unincorporated so its quite affordable..I can also recommend a great realtor if you should need one...

You can also go to CarolinaHome.com and search by subdivision and county...

I'm afraid that I have to agree. Cameron Woods does seem like a nice development too. Its close to Tin Tin & to Mercy South & the mall. You can hop on Rt. 485 or head up Johnston Road to get to Ballantyne.

I forgot to mention how close Cameron Woods is to the hospital - with young kids that would be important to me
