Default Charlotte Zip Codes

Does anyone know of a website that would show me all of the zip codes in the Charlotte area?

Also, which county(s) in Charlotte are the most populated or desirable?

I have never been there and it looks like such a huge area with many different counties involved... I don't know where to start!

Thanks in advance

Here is a map of zip codes:

http://www.charlottechamber.com/files/Meck.ZIPS.pdf (broken link)

Depending on what is most important to you, some areas may be more/less desirable than others. For example, if schools are important, you may pay a higher price for smaller acreage or square footage in some areas with higher rated schools.

I would be happy to help you in your search for housing -- feel free to PM me if you would like additional information. Best of luck to you!

Wow, thanks for all those zip codes!

Are they all just for Charlotte? Or are surrounding suburbs in there too?

Is that just Mecklenburg Country or others included there too?

I am moving to NC, but unsure whether it will be Charlotte, Raleigh, or maybe even Greensboro. I am using the county information & zip codes to determine population, income brackets, & growth trends. Which zips are more rural than suburban?

I tend to over analyze everything... so here is the beginning of my over-analyzation!

all of those are for Charlotte NC. Some are related to others, and some are used for PO Boxes only. If you look at south.charlotte&union's map, you'll see a lot less numbers.

I think what is confusing you is the term Charlotte. The city of Charlotte is in Mecklenburg county. The Charlotte SMSA, includes other cities located in other counties. SMSA stands for Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area. These are considered part of Charlotte for statistical data (obviously ) This takes into account people that live outside the "boundary" but still contribute to the economy etc.

The main reason for this is so they can claim over 1 million people live here. Having that over 1 million mark attracts more people, businesses, etc. If you went by the lines alone, Charlotte barely has over half that.

Would someone be able to tell me what "neighborhoods" zip codes 28208 and 28216 are for? Also a little info on the types of areas they are would be helpful, too!

28216 is NorthWest Charlotte. It covers the general area between 16 and I-77.

28208 is West Charlotte. This is where the Airport is. These cover large areas, and telling you all the "neighborhoods" would be somewhat of a chore.

These 2 zips have an above average concentration of "starter home" neighborhoods which is another way to say low income. Of the 4500 hundred people receiving Section 8 assistance in Charlotte, 25% of them live in those 2 zips. I'm not knocking Section 8, but the way its being handled in Charlotte is causing problems. A lot of these neighborhoods can best be described as "decaying"

I'm not saying every single address in those 2 zips is bad, but be very careful and do your research.
