Default Historic Homes In/Around Charlotte?

I've been looking to find areas in/around Charlotte that may feature older (say 1890-1930's) homes. All I've been able to find so far are areas like Salisbury, which is way too far North, or areas that look like you'd want to wear a flak jacket if you were to walk around the streets.

So, are there any areas of nicely preserved older homes- preferably in the $200k +/- range? I'd also be interested in areas with more expensive older homes- I'm looking at restoring them for their owners- not necessarily living in one, though that would be a bonus.

Thanks,

Bob
