Are there any cheaper places than Harris Teeter's to shop for groceries? I live in the Ballantyne area so I've been shopping there. But my food bill is incredibly high. I've also been to Lowe's, but the food is expensive there too.

There are Aldi's in Charlotte..but not one real close to the Ballantyne area...nearest one would probably be on S. Tryon but I know there is one in Matthews too.

Your not going to find a cheap grocery store in Ballantyne..that wouldn't make since. You'll have to drive out a bit to go to an Aldi (Steelecreek) or Walmart SuperCenter (Steelecreek).

Aldi & Trader Joe's are your best bets. If they are not close, see if there are stores that you might shop at, anyway, near them, get insulated bags or a cooler for frozen & refrigerated food & get the most for your gas.

If you are unfamiliar with the stores, I have receipts & I'm willing to post some prices. The Trader Joe's that I shop at is in the same region as Trader Joe's in Charlotte, so prices should be identical or close. As fast as prices are going up, I can't guarantee that they are current. My Aldi is in a different marketing region, so that's more variable.

Between the 2, you can minimize shopping at regular supermarkets.

Aldi is an interational chain. Keep in mind that Walmart failed in Germany because they couldn't best Aldi.

There is a Trader Joes's on Rea Rd. just past the Piper Glen development. The prices are much cheaper. I've bought their chicken breasts, fruits etc...and everything taste good. You cannot do your complete grocery shopping at Trader Joe's but it is worth the trip and you can get alot.

I just went to the Trader Joe's on Rae yesterday... I agree the prices are great. I went to Harris Teeter today and the same items were so much more expensive. A pack of Natural Poptarts was 2.69 at Trader Joe's and 3.99 at Harris Teeter. That is just one of many examples I noticed. I think it would be worth a bit of a drive.

I agree, totally! The prices on the imported cheeses are amazing! The frozen food is top quality. I've been buying from them for years & haven't had a bad experience yet.
