So actually the burden to support the schools is felt to a greater extent by the western areas. However, like one poster said, their burden is usually still so much lower than where they came from that it is not considered a problem.
sad.....

That would probably be a step up to a good many of them.

ok, so I just read many of these entries and am freaked out!!! I live in Rockland county, ny and my family and I have been wanting to move to nc for a while. However now I am concerned. My son is looking for a teaching job and we want a safe place to live. So which counties are safe and desirable?

freaked about what?? we are from NY and NJ....Union County doesnt have alot of crime....car break ins are everywhere, certain parts of charlotte have crime, again it depends on where u live..We live in Waxhaw/Marvin and occassional car break ins will happen. but overall its safe here and the area is very desirable it has its problems as there is no perfect place but for us it works and we are very happy and so are my children. My son's teachers some of them are from NY Westchester County and Long Island and they love living and teaching here.they teach in Marvin Ridge Middle, there is Marvin Ridge High School, Weddington Elem, Weddington Middle and Weddington HS.then there will be a new school opening in Waxhaw Called Cuthburtson Middle and Cuthburtson HS they will be opening for the next school year..im sure they will be hiring teachers soon. Also very nice area...if he is looking to teach tell him to look into Western Union County....there are a ton of schools in Union he just needs to do his homework...

what grade does he teach??
