Looking for an artsy Mayberry near Charlotte (Davidson, Norman: house, college)

My husband and I are looking to relocate to a place that we can spend less time working and more time doing the things we love..idealy, spending time with our daughter in nature, taking walks from our house to a cute down town and scateboarding (my husband). We are liberal thinkers and realy want to find like minded people. Is Charlotte for us? If so what areas would you recomend? We want to spend around $200,000 on a house.

Check Out Davidson About 15 Miles North Of Charlotte Very Close To Lake Norman. Nice Down Town With A Liberal Arts College.
