Arthur Smith and the Crackerjacks sang the Tube Rose song every week.

"If your snuff's too strong it's wrong, get Tube Rose, buy Tube Rose".

That's funny MM ... I don't remember the Tube Rose snuff song ... LOL ... I do remember ... the WBTV 11 o'clock news song (ad) ... "Atlantic keeps your car on the go ...

In 1955 Arthur Smith and Don Reno wrote and recorded a banjo instrumental called "Feudin’ Banjos" that was in the 1972 movie Deliverance as "Dueling Banjos."

Carowinds use to have a monorail.

The Monorail was part of the original plans for the park that included a "Disney-style" hotel. The monorail would have been used to drop off patrons at the hotel and in the park. The hotel never came into being, so the monorail then became only a tour of the park.

The one station for the ride was located near where the Vortex coaster is today.

There also use to be the state line that seperates the North Carolina Section and the South Carolina Section across the pavement

The Carolina Turnpike(Speedway Cars) were located where Vortex is, and the lower level of the Monorail station.

The Monorail opened with the park in 1973. It ran throughout the park and clear out to Interstate -77. There was talk
in the late 70's of building a Disney-type hotel for the monorail but those plans never materialized. The ride was dismantled
at the end of the 1994 season and sold to the resort city of Acapulco, Mexico. Note the Waltzer ride just above the monorail
train. The Waltzer was an intense Tilt-a-Whirl type ride that opened in 1975 and lasted 2 seasons

Does anyone remember or tried the thing I believed call drop bucket. You stand on the side the ride would spin around and then the floor drops.
Kinda same principle the alien ship you find in fairgrounds do?

Racing was a big part of this ride when it opened as it is only by chance if you race today.

The state line is still there at the entrance. You could straddle the line and you'd be in two states simultaneously! Always made us curious which EMT comes to you if you get hurt in Carowinds...must be depending on which side of the line you're on.
